From where did the name Emonson originate?

The British Chancery Records (1386 – 1588) record Thomas and Margaret Emonson living in Lincoln in 1544.

It is most interesting to note that many members of the Emonson family in the USA emigrated from Norway in the mid 1800s - about the same time our Australian ancestors arrived from England.

The name most likely originated from Norway or Denmark. One theory is that the name Emonson is derived from ‘son of Emon'.

Our challenge now is to try to connect these two branches.

So what can we make from all that?  Well;

- it would be safe to say we definitely have Scandinavian origins

- most likely all with the Emonson name living in Australia, Great Britain and the USA are related.

I look forward to any assistance that helps progress our understanding of our ancestry.  In particular, I look forward to one of our U.S.A. family (who has, or knows of someone who has, completed research) making contact with me.
