Introduction

If you, like myself, have completed research into the Emonson families in any part of the world, then I welcome your contribution to this website. The purpose of this site is to encourage communication, research and the sharing of family history by the members of the Emonson families throughout the world. I hope this site provides us, our children and their offspring, the opportunity to expand and share our understanding of our ancestors and what shaped their lives.

In the early 1990s, using phone directories and the Web, I extracted all names and addresses of members of the Emonson family in Australia, USA and the UK. I then wrote to, or phoned, each of them. From those numerous contacts I gathered information, photos and stories relating to the Emonson ancestry. Research, as it always is, was frustrating at times - however generally it has been most enlightening.

I hope that through this site we can;

• connect those from the early 1500s with those of the early 1700s in England,

• expand our knowledge of early members of the Emonson families in England,

• link the American families to their English/European ancestors,

• expand and link the family tree charts for England,

• include your ancestral photos within the 'Photo Album' page.

Establishing dates, places, events and relationships was relatively easy, however gathering personal recollections and anecdotal stories has proven more difficult. My research has gathered just short of 1000 members of the Emonson families throughout the world. In addition, I can confidently say that every Emonson (those being born with the surname Emonson) living in Australia is a direct descendent of John and Maria Emonson who emigrated from Middlesex, England in 1849.

Finally, I think it is important to explain that this site is not affiliated in any way with commercial or religious bodies that collect family history data. It is purely for the benefit of individuals from within the Emonson Family who have an interest in their ancestry.
