Guide how to install and use Ad-Aware SE

1. Download Ad-Aware SE from here.
2. Once you have downloaded it double click on aawsepersona16.exe to start installing it.
3. When the welcome screen appears click next.
4. At the next screen check I accept the license agreement and click next.
5. At the destination location screen leave the default location alone and click next.
6. Next leave the check box which is ticked by default and click next.
7. You will now be at the final installation screen click next.
8. Once it has installed you will be presented with this screen un-check the first and third option. Note: if you're not currently connected to the internet un-check 'update definitions now'.
9. Next it will update the definition files and return you to the main screen. Note: To manually update the definitions in the status screen above the start button click 'Check for updates now' next click connect and then ok once it has finished click finish.
10. The next step is to do you first scan for spyware, from the main menu click start or scan now as they both take you to the same place.
11. First un-check 'search for negligible risk entries' and check 'search for low risk' threats. By default perform a smart system scan will be checked so click next and it will perform the scan for spyware. Note: Once performing a smart system scan repeat these steps but check 'Perform full system scan' instead of 'smart system scan'.
12. This is what it will look like while it's scanning your system.
13. When scan is complete click on Next button.
14. In the scan summary window check the box and click next.
15. You will see this window confirming the removal click ok. It will delete and quarantine the objects.
16. Next open quarantine from the icons at the top of the screen and select the one that has the lock and click on it.
17. Once you have opened up quarantine click once on the auto quarantine file next click delete.
18. It will ask if you want to delete the archive click ok to confirm deletion. It will then return you to quarantined objects which will now be empty. To return to the main status menu click status.
19. You should now be able to successfully use Ad-Aware SE to clean your computer of spyware. You may now exit Ad- Aware to do so select the red X in the top right hand corner.
