Info re: ARTWORK to CIRCUIT BOARD

We here at RCS are a Industrial / Hobby Magazine circuit board purveyor of general purpose boards, Single Sided, Double Sided and Plated Thru Hole. Artworks accepted are only those produced on PROTEL HST. (Tas) EASYTRAX / AUTOTRAX or converted PROTEL for WINDOzzz back to AUTOTRAX. Before sending Windozzz Binary files, please save as mode 3 , AUTOTRAX mode, as it saves me burning up time and having to convert my end, so I can quickly evaluate if the board 'can' be made.

I have just seen a windozzz version called AutoTRAXEDA, and it is simply NOT very good for
'old experienced' hands and it is NOT compatible with the common PROTEL, International
Standard, way of doing things, so in short, give it a miss, as it is NOT interchangeable

Limitations are (many) , IT WILL NOT FULLY work in Win 95, 98, ME - only in NT, 2000, XP
and you need a 24 bit card, 1024 x 768 (or 1280 x 1024) and a 17" VDU Screen etc.
so for home brewer/amateurs experienced beginners, forget it (I use DOS AUTOTRAX+)

RED=Copper = Bottom Layer where as BLUE is and will allways be the Top Layer of copper and finally Yellow is the component code Top Layer, Cyan is the Bottom Layer Component Code. (BPO/PMG/ATT standards)

TRAXMAKER : An interesting CAD program, originally the EASYEDIT / AUTOEDIT source code was sold by Protel to MICROCODE in the USA, then Protel saw how WELL (embarrasingly) it turned out, and purchased it back, I have been advised by a user Ben Dennis, that the program (after looking) it is fully bi-directionable and transportable from EASYTRAX <> AUTOTRAX <> TRAXMAKER etc. (So for the smaller operator, this is certainly the Windozzz based C.A.D. system starter)

This program is very economical, and it is excellent for the begginer.
 A far cry in expense from the all singing, all dancing   PROTEL 99-2001,3,4,5 (whatever),  Whilst it is in Windozzz (which is slower than DOS), it is an excellent stepping stone, in case you ever go up to the PROTEL 99-2001,2,3,4.

I have just tried EASYTRAX, AUTOTRAX, PfW, Traxmaker on Win XP, excellent.

EASYQUIK.txt is a 'Quicky' get ready set of guidelines for your EASYEDIT CAD A/W Program. It is meant to get you up and going with a minimum of 'reading' , about 8k in length, giving screen colour setups, track, pad, string(text) grid size defaults etc . It has NOT been proof read by myself, so spelling errors and grammatical viewpoints are on the 'hop'. Your comments on this matter are welcome. Keyboard short cuts NOT in the manual are suggested for speed....

AMPTRACK.exe is a simple DOS program to assist in the design of artworks so you get the trackwidth and spacings correctly (US275)

2 routines for the enhancement of the EASYTRAX cad software for global changes. EASYTRAK.exe allows the changing of all fixed TRACKS tracks within an easyedit.pcb file EASYHOLE.exe allows the global installing of HOLES in all the PADS so as they can be used in any CNC drilling machine, and in case you give your EASYTRAX files to a professional board maker, he will know how, what, where to drill correct holes (according to PAD size).

The Bottom line is, RCS DESIGN is a Printed Wiring (Circuit) Board company and as such we can manufacture your designed artworks, if you want a board made from 1 to 1000 then email the *.pcb file from EASYTRAX/AUTOTRAX and ask for a quote on your artwork. If you are using Protel windoz then save it in mode 3 (autotrax mode) then send the file by 'attached / zip'

Hi, my name is Bob Barnes, ex-european tourist, Large Order Bar-B-Que Cook using a Jet Engine from a large well known aircraft company. Train Track examiner and Lastly a Speed Hump Tester for the RTA many jobs, mostly dismissed after 18 months, good looking, modest, and now I work at RCS Design making artworks. Background as a Tech. L7 Sgt in the army/air force, designing and using printed wiring (circuit) boards for reliability under most adverse conditions. This image taken March 23 1998, 10.45pm uploaded (untouched) 15 mins later, my mate (Ian Pollard) has a SONY 640x480 JPG 3.5" floppy disc.

Rule Z : Any Protel PCB file sent to RCS Design should follow the following guidelines..

1. The file to be sent as a *.pcb file, NOT a windows binary file, save in autotrax mode.
2. The file to be sent as 'attached' NOT INCLUDED, we get around 30/40 daily emails.
3. Depending on odd file handling ISP servers, you may have to send as a pkzip.
4. We have been advised that the new EDA stuff can export to pfw 2.8 pcb file, that is ok
We do not have time to un-uuecode files and, included in text file, so please do not use.
