DARKROOM TIMER Project
A
DARKROOM (or common process timer) has been
developed because of raw stock film changes etc.
to normal Ortho Film and Riston Exposure needs
Note
: No Electronics magazine here in Australia has
EVER designed or presented a 'usefull' timer that can
be used (in a darkroom) to control Exposure of an accurate
repeatable procedure for the production of Ortho B/W negatives
or to provide repeatable UV Exposures for RISTON clad
circuit boards, I have searched from 1939 to present day.
This
project 'PROTIME'
can be presented as a single (large board)
for excellent training for would be programmers (of PICs)
who can develop up an *.asm then a *.hex so as to make a
commercially designed circuit board operate with all full functions
The circuit board has been developed and tested and is used
by some TAFE colleges / High Schools for internal training
as well as us here as a commercial Circuit Board maker for
day to day common use in our manufacturing procedures.
This project
HAD to be developed when 'muggins' me misplaced
our 'STAG' timer and I was advised by a magazine editor
"that NO One uses LED's these days" . . . . quote,
unquote
and for me "to use a RED Torch and a Wall Clock", hmmmmm
then when I researched EVERY Electronics magazine, they
all resulted in NOTHING EVER was anyways practical
to ACCURATELY
operate the 'Exposure light/s'
and
now the added luxury of a turning off/on
the 'Safelights'
while you are 'focussing' or setting up etc.
in case you were using an 'enlarger' for prints
No, it does NOT have PAY TV, or MUSAK background
It is a real useable DARKROOM TIMER with some nice frills
one minor item, Traffic
Lights these days use LED's and NOT Incandescant or CFIL's
Features are as follows. . . . . . . . .
5 x FND500/560
7segment LED readouts (very safe in a darkroom)
(Min x 10, min x 1, Sec x 10, sec x 1 and decipoint
tenths of seconds)
(choice of RED
or GREEN
7 seg LEDS, depending on application)
COUNTDOWN to zero then reset, (NOT Silly Count UP)
Powered by a simple 6vDC Plugpack (or 12vDC Plugpack)
10 presetable programmable timing memories
Remote Push Buttons (elsewhere on the main control panel)
Solid State (3amp @ 240vAC) to control EXPOSURE & SAFELIGHTS
LARGER Remote (on a ribbon) 7 Seg Display using 2.3" READOUTS
(so as every one in the darkroom is 'aware' of timings that are under
way)
RED
LEDs for
normal Ortho B/W film or RISTON 'AE' exposures
GREEN LEDs
if you are using
PHOTO-TYPESETTING B/W Film
To suggest
using LCD's in
a darkroom is a sure sign that the person
has NO working understanding of commonsense correct procedures
Darkroom means NO White
light, even from idiotic small LCD's
with
'white' Backlights, as even this can/will fog Ortho Film for negatives
for more information
send an S.A.E. and
ask for PROTIME 'checkplots' of the project
(A,B,C,D are on a ready to go (as is) circuit board)
for T.A.F.E. PIC writing applications useage
PROTIME project will
be RCS 2033a(abcd), 2033e,
2033f
(PROTIMEE has a plug in o.9" set of
LEDs for remote use)
(PROTIMEF has a plug in set of JAYCAR Maxi 2.3" LEDs)
The circuit
board set can be sold as a '1 piece' with a fully working
PIC 16F84 Pre-programmed microcomputer (I.C.),
also the blank project boards are available to anybody who
wishes to write a program for their own (from asm > hex) as a
PIC programming (personal or class) exercise, it is called
'reverse engineering' for a proven 'tested' circuit board
or it can be cut into 3 (4) separate boards, (no charge)
and we suggest the (A+B) and the (C+D) sets so as
it can drop neatly into a JAYCAR HB6094, sloping panel
type Jiffy box, RED Perspex drop in front cover panels
will also be available for final appearances upon asking.
some photographs will appear here in a few
weeks
when slack Bob gets around to taking them
and putting them up here on the web.
