Hi, my name is Rachel, and I'm 25 years old. I was born and raised in Melbourne Australia, where I am living currently. I was born totally blind, though I do have a bit of light perception. actually, I can see outlines of shapes and objects, as well as being able to see shadows.
I have many interestes, including reading, writing stories, playing and working with computers (including chatting and surfing the net), yacking on the phone, listening to music, as well as the obvious, hanging out with friends and family.
For the first nnine years of my life, I attended playgroup, kindergarten and juniour schooling at the Burwood Education centre campus of RVIB. I then was intergrated out into a mainstream school. Verdale primary was the school; it's now known asrangeview Primary.When my time was up there, I attendedvermont secondary college, where I completed my schooling in 1998.
After spending two years volunteering at RVIB as well as completing various short computer courses there, I thought it was time to try and move on with something a bit more stable. I always like stability in my life. It's very important for me to know what I'm doing from one day to the next, and be in place somewhere.
So I decided to resit my VCE (attaining an official ENTER at the end of 2003) at the
cAE (centre For Adult Education)
At the beginning of this year, I recieved an offer doing Liberal Arts at Swinburn Institute Of Technology TAFE
Since my initial plan of following through my long-term childhood goal of wanting to get into Secondary school teaching, I have had quite a few other interesting options speak to me in the process of maturing and growth devellopmenp.
Aside from still having my interest of teaching English and Psychology, I have also seriously been comtemplating:
Wellfare/youth Counselling,
Radio/television Broadcasting,
Acting/performing Arts,
And the list is graadually growing. So It has nearly come time for me to apply for Uni again next year incase I can get in by this LA Certificate, so the options for me are now outwaying quite a bit from before.
I guess these broader interests can only be a good thing if only I will be successful at any of these things in the future!
On the 9th November 1991, I was baptized into the Burwood Adventice Community Church here in Melbourne.
