Pharmacy Store Fixture - For a significant period of time, the most important pharmacy store fixture was the soda fountain. This most important pharmacy store fixture was a centerpiece in the lives of many men and women.
In rural areas, men, women and children gathered around the most important pharmacy store fixture, the soda fountain for hours on end. The person who tended the soda fountain retained the unenviable name of "soda jerk." The soda jerk became an important figure in the lives of many of the men and women - and children - who spent any time at a given soda fountain.
In larger cities, the soda fountain, the most important pharmacy store fixture, became legendary as a meeting point for the rich and powerful. The lowly soda fountain took on an aura greater than its parts.
For example, a significant number of Hollywood actresses were discovered while sitting around a soda fountain.
Legend has it that Marilyn Monroe was discovered while sitting on a stool at a soda fountain in Hollywood near Hollywood and Vine. In point of fact, Miss Monroe was not the only starlet allegedly discovered sitting around a soda fountain.
Because of the number of women allegedly discovered at a soda fountain, many young and aspiring actresses began to intentionally hang out around soda fountains in hopes of making an entrée into the entertainment industry.
In recent years, there are very few drugstores that maintain an old fashioned soda fountain. But, those few drugstores still retain a charm and wonderful atmosphere from days gone by.
Most cities around still have at least one drugstore that maintains an old fashioned soda fountain. More often than not, the soda fountain will be found in a small, homey establishment. If a reader of an article gets the chance, he or she can’t go wrong by visiting am old fashioned soda fountain.
