Balloon Dilation Of Pyloric Stenosis In Elderly - Many different ailments do affect elderly men and women. Through research and study, there are a growing number of ways to treat the ailments and diseases of elderly patients in far less invasive manners than have been used in the past. Once such procedure is balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis in elderly.
At the outset, it is important to understand -- at least in general terms -- pyloric stenosis is as far as an ailment. (By understanding the problem itself, a person is better able to understand balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis in elderly.)
Pyloric stenosis is a narrowing of the pylorus. The pylorus is the lower part of the stomach. It is through the pylorus that food and other contents from the stomach pass or enter into the small intestine. When the condition becomes extreme, it can prevent food from emptying out of the stomach. In most instances, a person with this ailment will have bouts of violent vomiting. At this juncture, the preferred treatment for this condition is balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis in elderly.
In most instances, the condition is associated with infants and young children. However, the condition can be found to exist in people of all ages. Hence, the use of the balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis in elderly patients.
When doctors are dealing with elderly patients, they generally desire to use the least invasive procedure possible to correct a problem or condition. Balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis in elderly is such a procedure. Through balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis in elderly, the pylorus is expanded through the insertion of an inflatable balloon -- much like balloon angioplasty performed on heart related blood vessels. Through balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis in elderly, the patient can be treated with relative ease and with little or no complications.
