It’s been quite a while since our last blog post, which is an indication of how busy life has become. This past week has been a huge adjustment. First there is the feeding regime, which is via Angela’s nasal-gastric tube every two hours during the day. At night time we hook Ange up to a pump which feeds her continuously, which is a great blessing that we don’t have to get up to feed her. Although she still wakes us as regularly as any newborn with dirty nappies, etc. For much of the time Angela was in hospital we had family and friends helping us to look after Lydia. She is now home with us, which is great but it is a real juggling act keeping her occupied while nursing Angela. I worked from home for the first week Angela was home, and am now sharing my work between the office and home. It’s been a lifesaver being able to be around to help when needed and still do my job.
Lydia went to her first full day of daycare and absolutely loved it. Jen tries to have family and friends help her on the days of the week I am working. So we feel like we are starting to develop a workable routine.
Jen especially has good days and bad days. This experience of motherhood is very different to her first time around. And though we’re happy Angela is out of hospital, the hard work has just begun.
