Club Borrowings
The Clubs Finance Facility is a $600,000 mortgage over the Clubhouse. This facility has the ability to offset, by depositing surplus funds as they become available, while retaining the ability to draw down the $600,000 limit if necessary. Currently deposits of $329,693 offset the outstanding balance on this facility of $589,693. The deposits of $329,693 are represented by $283K of Club funds and $47K of member’s funds. The current rate on this facility as at December 2011 is 7.9%. For this year ending March 2012 we expect to repay approximately $60,000 of principal. As mentioned before the Board’s goal is to lower the interest and bank fee cost to the club so as to achieve the earliest repayment of the loan, thereby reducing the overall cost to the members.
CAN YOU HELP?
Vic Parker and Ross Taylor give up their Tuesday mornings each week to renovate and repair the club marina and other jobs around the club.
Vic and Ross have asked if there is a volunteer able to help out with the marina task, on an on call basis to cover times when one of them is not available.
If you can help or wish to discuss please call Devon on 9999 3976 or 0417 685 578.
REORGANISING ALL THE INFORMATION ON THE USE OF PAC FACILITIES
Currently members allocated or using club facilities are required to sign a contract or agreement. There are now the following agreements and contracts
• Slip agreement
• Work berth agreement
• Marina contract
• Mooring contract
• Boat storage contract
There is also information on the website covering the use of club facilities
• PAC By laws
• Slipping instructions
• Boat storage facilities information
• Recreational moorings
There is considerable duplication of information in the above documents.
The board is reviewing all the above to make the management of club facilities more efficient and more user friendly for members. Members will be able to find all the information about a particular facility in the one place. When all this information is re organised it is proposed to have it in a single document – the PAC By laws.
The board will continue to update members as this process continues and at the meeting of members in February also if any member has any comments, as always, please send them to the Secretary.
Pittwater Sailors
I WOULD RATHER BE SAILING
Rather than mowing the lawn or trying to work your way through that long “to do” list on the first Sunday of the month, come sailing with Pittwater Sailors. Our first race is on Sunday 5th February. Both PAC members and people on the wait list are welcome.
We have a new approach to handicapping thanks to Ken Plumb with help from John Marshall that should give all boats a chance of a prize if they sail a good race.
Welcome back to Richard Steel in MYRA and Gerard Mak in WRIGHT MISTRESS. A warm welcome to our two new members – Roger Gray in BONNIE LASSIE and Henry Stratton in TANGO TWO.
All the information you need is under the sailing tab on the club website.
Hope to see you out on the water and later at the BBQ.

Safety
Notice to all Members
We are all now subject to the Work Health and Safety Act 2012, which carries personal obligation for each of us.
What that means to you and me is that we individually have a legal responsibility to carry out our activities at the PAC in a safe manner. Additionally, we personally have a duty of safety to those around us; whether they are members, guests or contractors. If we see something unsafe, we must personally take all "reasonably practicable" steps to reduce the risk. This is new and legally enforceable.
The Boards aim, headed by Peter Cole the Clubs Safety Officer, is to interpret the new regulations to fit what we do, with as little inconvenience to you as possible. Over the coming months, we will be compiling a register of hazards and documenting associated risks at the PAC. Relevant industry Codes of Practice that provide guidance on effective ways to manage work health and safety risks, need to be identified. Finally, our current procedures need to be documented and improved to ensure that Standing Risk Profiles of activities such as boat slipping are well understood and we continue to prevent injury to people, property and our Club.
Safety is about awareness and common sense. We have a good safety record at the PAC and I believe that our boating pleasure has been enhanced by it. If anyone has any comments Peter Cole can be contacted at: peterecole@gmail.com or 0419 691 084
