We're back!

West Pymble 1 Lane Cove West 4

In glorious sunshine, with cold beer to look forward to after the game and some useful coaching suggestions from O35B's former legend and no doubt future Scotland World Cup coach John Sneddon, Lane Cove took on West Pymble at Saiala. We welcomed first gamer Scott Rawstorne in the centre of midfield and also welcomed back Grant Cannon after a long absence from the club up front. Both players made their presence felt, though Grant did appear to be hampered by the lack of tension in the string in the same pair of shorts he wore when playing for us ten years ago! Anyhow, we made a much brighter start than last week and after around 20 minutes Stuart Marshall scored after good work down the right by Jon Prideaux. Jon then managed to blister an unsavable shot past Lucio Siri, to make it 1-1, before everyone on the park was amazed to see us receive a penalty after what seemed like a brilliant tackle on Scott Rawstorne. Gareth scored from the spot (twice), to put us two one up at half time.

In the second half, Steve Walton's menacing presence up front and some nice lead up work saw Scott on the scoreboard with a nicely taken shot, before Steve was denied what looked like an amazingly fine goal. Still saving the best for last, Derek Wood flashed up at the far post after running from half way to hammer a fantastic goal in before his adoring legion of fans. Nigel had left the field at this stage and he and Sue were up in the bushes allegedly looking for the missing Mitchell, who was playing happily down the other end of the pitch.

Anyhow, it was a good game, a better result and a great comeback from last week's poor result and even poorer performance.
