Lane Cove West 2 Lindfield 1
Congratulations to everyone for a fine team
performance and our second win for the season. I think this was due to a very
positive attitude right from the start of the game, some good running, and some
last ditch fighting in the last 15 minutes when we lost our shape a little.
Next game is on Saturday at BLACKMAN OVAL
again against Mt Colah, who are
currently fourth. I am down to referee and Tim Bradbury to run the line (Tim
can you please confirm your availability).
Match
report follows.
LCW had a pleasing win on Sunday in wintry
conditions that has lifted us level with Lindfield and just two games outside
finals contention. To check out the ladder standings and fixtures, wet weather

We battled hard from the start and were
rewarded around 20 minutes in when Mark Ashton fired home from around 10 metres
out. Later in the same half Davoud Kanani crossed and Paul Shelley finished well and we were
two up. Down the other end, Luci had previously
deflected a strong shot onto the post, and continued to aggressively control
his area. Half time 2-0. In the
second half, things were more even and Lindfield
began to get on top. P-plate referee John Sneddon,
hopelessly out of position and consistently holding his whistle incorrectly it
appears, ruled out a very classy finish from Davoud Kanani (an unnamed observer opined this was so that John
could claim to have scored the best goal of the day!). Then with just a couple
of minutes to go, Lindfield scrambled a header home from a corner and we had to
see out a nervous last few minutes. However, that we did, and we deservedly got
the three points.
