Another
footballing exhibition took place at Blackman Oval on Saturday. A hard close
fought battle ensued between two teams intent on
promotion this year in front of a vocal but well behaved LCW support confronted
by a visiting mob from Lindfield playing on the neighbouring pitch complete
with club song, synchronised pogoing and colour co-ordinated kit bags. We numbered 15 for this game (including Nigel
who trebled as sausage maestro, all age manager and sub). Whilst pushing hard
to get on the score sheet at the risk of getting caught on the break, it is a
credit to our players and supporters that we maintained our discipline. Our
attacks proved difficult to maintain at times against a team that mixed long
ball tactics, midfield running and long range shooting. LCW endured extended
periods on the back foot in the last quarter, frustrating our guys up front who
lacked support going forward. Combined pressure resulted in two own goals and a
0-2 result. A fair reflection on the numerous interceptions
and tackles made by our defence throughout the game. A good natured
game, well refereed by the man in black, culminating in lewd games with
Nigel's sausages and onions in front of the female contingent, a
beer, fag for some, a final demonstration of the kit bags club song and a resolve to score more
goals next time round.
Would happily play this lot again.
Note
to Al to canvass club song for web site.
