Match Report

In what was our best performance yet for the season (in my opinion), the As played some great football in the first half, hitting the
bar twice, the post once and narrowly missing wide twice (and over once by Paul Shelley, who made perhaps the greatest run of his
career), before going one goal down against the run of play! The team responded magnificently and continued to play very entertaining
football with great encouragement for each other. We were rewarded around 15-20 minutes from time, with Bob Armstrong imitating Trevor
Brooking in that mongrel FA Cup Final and then Ben Moreau clinched it with a well battled goal in the dying minutes. We then "dug deep"
during which time Brett Gillespie put in an early season claim for the Nobby Chopper award just outside the penalty area.

So after five games, we have two wins, one draw and two losses. Most importantly we are starting to play some real football and to really
bond as a team. Well done guys.

Votes for this weekend (particularly tough as I thought everyone had a great game, so I decided to give it to all those whose name began
with B but wasn't an abbreviation like Bob!): Brett Gillespie, Brian Moran, Ben Moreau.
