The following Mp3 samples were taken from an ABC Classics CD recording of Rachmaninoff works by Sydney pianist Scott Davie. Scott is a former student of pianists Gerard Willems and Leslie Howard. He chose the OVERS 225 No. 003 for making this December 2001 recording, Rachmaninoff Lilacs, at the recently rebuilt Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as part of his PhD submission.
Click on an Mp3 file link below to play samples taken from Rachmaninoff Lilacs with your preferred Mp3 helper application. If you do not have a reasonable set of speakers attached to your computer, try listening to the samples through headphones. The tonal quality of Mp3 files through better sounding speakers or headphones can be surprisingly acceptable (the following samples were converted at a sampling rate of 128K).
Variations on a Theme of Corelli, sample 1 - (514 K)
Variations on a Theme of Corelli, sample 2 - (271 K)
Variations on a Theme of Corelli, sample 3 - (819 K)
Variations on a Theme of Corelli, sample 4 - (1.1 Mb)
The full audio CD is available for sale at your local ABC shop from within Australia, or it can be purchased online from Buywell.com. The following link will take you directly to Buywell's Rachmaninoff Lilacs page of their online catalogue.
