Profile

Julian Boot burst on to the Warehouse Cricket scene in a blaze of glory with a man-of-the-match performance in his debut match against Betta/Panasonic. The consummate all-rounder, Boot is equally at home with either bat and ball in hand, and is a more than capable gloveman whether taking thunderbolts from Jennings, fizzing leg-breaks from Meng or diving wide to prevent Hunter's wides from reaching the boundary.

For sheer consistency, Boot has few equals and has maintained a Warehouse career average of over 10. His temperament is exemplary and his concentration legendary. A batsman who revels in a crisis, Boot played a lone hand in holding together a patchy Raid God innings against Betta/Panasonic. A poor run against Northern Dragons (exacerbated by some poor umpiring decisions) seems to have been only a passing phase and he is likely to return to top form soon.

For the 32 year old journeyman who currently hails from Wooloongabba - just a stone's throw from the famous ground - a position in the Kenyan Rain Gods represents a return to Brisbane after an unhappy two-year stint in Melbourne where he was unable to get a game. The political issues that contrived to keep him out of the game in Melbourne finally behind him, Boot's playing future seems bright. A well-publicised promotional deal with Mako Eyewear ensures his financial security, leaving him to spend more time honing his already finely tuned game.
