Captain's Corner - Highlights of '07Robert Colvin, January 7 2008 2007 was our best year yet -- we were within 33 runs of winning the trophy (since the final was washed out and we would have been the higher-placed finalists). As such, it is worth reflecting on some of the more memorable moments. Unfortunately Pete May missed quite a few matches so there are not as many as usual. 1. "THANK YOU". Boot's appeal for a
caught-behind decision. Instead 3. Guess who. Boot brought the rain break to an early end (for himself) having noted that the adjoining field was back on. The surprised umpire finished his tea before joining a conspicuously dry Boot. 4. S. Meng scored 100, being mostly responsible for taking KRG from 6/48 and 7/93 to 296, a match-winning score. 5. His partner for the majority was a plucky T. Johannsen, whose 79 cemented his place for 07 after being in-and-out of the side in 06. 6. Dodson's return to the big-time after years in the wilderness. 7. Ramsay averaging 70 with the bat, with a high score of 27. 8. At the other end, some big contributions from lower-order stalwarts Crane and Ponepalli, 5 (average 1.25) and 6 (average 1.2), nothing in it over the season. 9. Playing some quality Warehouse cricket on synthetic pitches, often with 2 inches of water in the low areas. 10. Hunter's criss-cross attempt(s) to stop a four (unsuccessful). 11. Hunter 4 ducks, and still expecting to keep opener's spot.
