The
following information is from from Kim Rudder.
It comes as no surprise to find that Kim is a mathematics teacher.
He found lots of mathematical material on the bank
of Lake Wendouree
"Starting
at 6.00am on the Saturday, (and it took about
three-quarters of an hour to do) I counted 66 Eights, 225 Fours (this
included coxed and coxless fours and quads), 226 pairs and Doubles
and 227
single sculls, making a total of 744 boats of all descriptions.
I
was told
whilst doing the count that at least three trailer loads of boats had
already left the site and there were already a few Doubles on the lake
at
that early hour, so a ball park figure would be a total of about 750
boats.
There were 61 trailers of various types. I did not get into the mine
field
of thinking about oars.
Using
the impression formed during the count
regarding the overall quality of of the various boats, the proportion
of
coxed and coxless fours etc, I came up with a figure of about $10 000
000
worth of boats alone sitting on the bank of Lake Wendouree.
All
in all, it
was pretty impressive."
