Wholistic
practice
The World Health Organisation
defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well
being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. At Nordic we hope to
give people the tools to take responsibility for their own health. Our
supportive measures include body work (massage) which has proven over time to
be effective in attaining and maintaining health. Nutritional supplements that
provide valuable nutrition that is lacking in our diet. Herbal tonics that
have been defined as agents which have a strengthening effect and which tone
up the entire body or a specific organ structure or body function. These herbs
can help protect against the development of disease in a particular organ or
body system. We promote a positive attitude, a healthy diet and exercise.
Simple lifestyle changes, incorporating consistency and respect for ones own
inner strength, goes a long way in improving health. Its when the body, mind
and spirit are in complete alignment that we have what is termed “ Wholistic
Health.

a sense of belonging, because we found a certain
warmth in the place, our clients and acquaintances. We then realized that what Peter left us was not a business, but rather a ‘Gift’. We
would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your warm
Welcome and also for your continued support of Nordic. We are also
indebted to Wendy Rumble and Peter Jeffreys for believing in us and
joining us for what we believe will be a fruitful venture.
As a team we hope to build on the foundation that Peter
Martin had and continue the high quality of services with a holistic and
Natural approach to our clients. We value our clients and any
suggestions to improve our services will be most welcome.

Massage in Sports
Sports massage is a specific massage designed for use
before and after sporting activities and as a preventative treatment for
injuries which may be sustained whilst playing sport. Sports massage
works on soft tissue (e.g. muscles, tendon, ligaments and fascia). It
stimulates circulation and increases the removal of waste products,
therefore helping the muscle to overcome fatigue, injury and spasm.
Massage won’t make an athlete stronger, but it will help minimise
muscular inhibitions. This will allow the athlete to maximize his/her
potential by allowing the muscles to preform more efficiently.

Why we have pain
Have you ever considered an alternative reason as to why
we get pain? Throughout our body we have many energy points, when an area
gets blocked, it causes a blockage in the flow of energy. What we think
and how we think can cause stress in our bodies.
Our bodies are like a vacuum cleaner, we suck in a lot
of negative waste and allow it to build up and up until it eventually
becomes full or blocked. This misplaced importance of little things
creates pressure. These pressures can be guilt, fear, worry, anger,
yearning, hatred or jealousy. All these concepts cause ailments to your
body because they are all keeping you from loving yourself.
A lot of us live by other people’s standards, some of
these standards we receive from our parents, which we might not need. This
can cause us to put harsh standards onto ourselves. If we are unaware that
we are living by other people’s standards we may in turn place standards
on to others, thereby causing a chain reaction. |
The things that go
against us and create disharmony in our thinking are:- EMOTIONS-
which are REACTIONS and they are the way society has taught us to
react to things. It is what other people tell us we ought to do or should
do. It is our thinking mind and it likes to overtake us. It wants to
control our lives, but we need to police our thoughts so it cannot take
control. The intellect (mind) is there just to interpret your feelings but
not necessarily act on them. Act only on your true feelings.
FEELINGS – are for ACTION. When you follow your true
feelings, you are doing what is best for you and you are in control of
your own life.

|
Body and some associated feelings (not always)
Muscles
· Thoughts of guilt about not
performing to your standards.
· Worrying about other people's standards.
· Being unable to own up to something you have
done or not done.
Ligaments
· You are controlling others
· or letting others control you
· or not being in control of yourself.
Tendons
inability not to move freely
By taking a step back, understanding your environment and being
in tune with your own feelings you can take control of your life by
seeing what needs to be changed.

Aromatherapy Massage a Feast for the mind and body
Aromatherapy is the ancient art and science of using the healing power
of aromatic essential oils, distilled from organic plant sources. How
does it work? During the massage, the aromas are perceived by the
nerve endings in the nose, and signals are passed to the limbic (where
emotions are felt) system in the brain. An important part of the limbic
system governs the pituitary gland, which controls hormone release
throughout the body. Additionally, the small molecules of essential oils
are absorbed through the skin. They then dissolve in the natural body fats
and fluids. This allows them to flow around the
body, to relax or stimulate, detoxify and regenerate.
Essential oils should not be ingested, and always used
diluted. |
