The Brief
The entity is the City of Sydney in 2030 as an active and sustainable cultural and design center.
Increased population, economic growth, and general city activity will result in a greater need for quality public space for locals and tourists.
These spaces should be enriching, allow for rest, recreation, and an outlet to get away from the bustle of city life.
Nook (2007)
Anodized aluminum, scale 1:2. Actual size 940 x 500mm.
This object was conceived as a lighting/gallery/information space to be embedded along the walls of pedestrian laneways. The unit can be
rotated by passers by depending on which side they want visible to the laneway. One side opens up to house a small 2D or 3D artwork
and the other side contains a light which emits from behind a patterened surface. The pattern on each nook is to be differnt and to be derived from each of the villages of the City of Sydney.
