Mystery Mtn and wattle Old Baldy from Hotel
Mystery Mountian viewed through August wattle. The cliff known as 'Old Baldy' as seen from the verandah of the old Newnes Hotel.
Wattle Blossom Cliff south of Mystery
August-September is the period when the local wattles are in flower. The dominant type at Newnes is Acacia filicifolia although there are several others, including Acacia decurens (pictured here). This cliff is just south of "Mystery Mountain" and shows a weathering pattern suggesting that the face was originally a joint line.
