. Lewis Martin Munford was born 1814 in SC, and died 10 July1870 in Bartow Co., GA of typhoid. He was buried in Old Cassville Cemetery, Bartow Co., GA. To see his obituary click here.
. Serena Dillard was born 25 April 1820 in SC, and died 20 Aug1888 in Bartow Co., GA. To see her obituary click here. She was buried in Old Cassville Cemetery, Bartow Co., GA. She was the daughter of  John Dillard and  Elizabeth Pearson. They were married on 12 SEP 1839 in Bartow Co., GA.

    i. Elizabeth S. Munford was born 1842.
    ii. Nancy Munford was born 1843.She married Hillary P Gilreath on 28 May 1861
    iii. John Munford was born 1846.He married Nannie E Burge on 23 Dec 1869. They had two daughters Sirena DOB 1871 and Ida DOB 1874.
    iv. Sims Munford was born 1848.
    v. Lewis Sims Munford was born 1850 in GA, and died 1916. He married Emma Militia Jones 1874. She was born 1856 in GA, and died 1916.
    vi. Serena Munford was born 1852.She married George Holton Gilreath (DOB 1851) on 26 Nov 1874 she had two children Frank (dau) and Robert.

 Lemuel Dillard Munford was born 1 JAN 1857 in Cassville Co., GA, and died 21 FEB 1925 in Bartow Co., GA. He married Kathleen Aurelia Saxon, daughter of Robert Creswell Saxon and Martha Elizabeth Glenn Crocker. She was born 10 JAN 1862 in GA, and died 8 FEB 1934 in Bartow Co., GA. They had two children

a) Dr Emmett Russell Munford born OCT 1894 died 30 OCT 1957 and who married Nina Barrett born 1897 and died 1952. The couple had a son Lemuel McCarny Munford born 8 MAY 1925 died 2 MAY 1983  and buried in Oak Hill Cem., Bartow Co., GA

b) Emogene Munford born 14 JAN 1896 in GA and who married Samuel Q. Roberts. She died on 7 FEB 1994 in Gordon Co., GA and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetry, Bartow Co. GA

 
 
  viii  . Eugene Munford was born ABT JAN 1860 and died 8 Aug 1890 at the time of his death he had living three brothers, Messrs. L. S., Lem and John Munford and two sisters, Mrs. George Gilreath and Mrs. H. P. Gilreath. To read his obituary click here.
 
. John Dillard was born ABT 1780 in Pittsylvania Co., VA, and died 3 NOV 1823 in Laurens Co., SC. He was the son of Samuel Dillard and  Ann Hutchins.
  Elizabeth Pearson was born 6 FEB 1784 in Union Co., SC. She was buried in Old Cassville Cemetery, Bartow Co., GA
 

Cartersville Georgia

Lewis Sims Munford married Emma Militia Jones (1857-1916) in 1874. Lewis died about 1916 in Cartersville, Ga. They had three children namely Robert Sims Munford, Lewis D Munford Peeples (dau) (DOB 1875) who married Oscar Tankealey PEEPLES (DOB 1871 ) on 1 Dec 1898 and Mary Serena Munford. Mary died in her 20s and left no children. Lewis Sims gave the Mary Munford Memorial Library in Cartersville in her memory. The town now has a public library with a Mary Munford room devoted to Cartersville History.

The 1880 census records find the family as living at Cassville, Bartow County, Georgia 30123 with two servants and two laborers (all black and surnamed Williams)

Robert Sims Munford, DOB ABT 1885 first married Katharine L Aubrey Munford DOB ABT 1890 on 6 Sep 1911. She died in 1918. They brought up three sons and two daughters in Cartersville, Georgia.
 
1) Robert Sims Munford Jr. DOB  1912 is not only the oldest of three brothers but the only surviving brother. He moved to Jackson, Mississippi as a young man. He married Virginia Townsend Munford and had two sons – Robert Sims Munford III and Luther Townsend Munford DOB 1949 see below
2) George Hargraves Munford DOB 15 May 1914 settled in Winston-Salem, North Carolina George passed away in Apr 1981 in Winston Salem, Forsyth, NC.  He had two sons and one daughter….George, John and Peggy.
3) Dillard Munford DOB 13 May 1918 settled in Atlanta, Georgia. His first wife, was Lillie Shepherd Davis and they had five children. His second wife was Danné Brokaw MUNFORD of Atlanta GA. They had no children. He was for many years  CEO of the Munford Inc., a New York stock exchange company which owned 'Majik Market', the second largest chain of convenience food stores in the country.  He died on 15 Sep 1993 in Fulton, Atlanta Georgia, Dillard had three sons
  1. Robert Bob Munford   A Model - Actor - Specialty Parts Model - Voice Overs based in Atlanta, Georgia - married with one daughter
  2. Dillard Munford Jr. died on July 28, 1986 - married with one daughter
  3. Henry Munford    Executive Vice President - Development Safe America Foundation. He is  married with three sons

i) Grey Munford is the Director of Publicity with the Yari Film Group in Los Angeles

ii) Dillard I. Munford – attends High Point University, in North Carolina

iii) Henry MacGuire Munford – attends the University of Alabama

After Katharine died Robert Sims Munford  subsequently married on 6 Nov 1919 Marilu Young Munford, Born 03 Dec 1896 - Died 30 Jan 1989 in Cartersville GA. They had: a daughter

Robert Sims Munford III M.D. is Professor of Internal Medicine and Microbiology at The University of Texas. He is also known for his work on Immunology, Integrative Biology and Molecular Biology. He is married to Barbara Brown Munford. To view some of his work click here.  

Luther Townsend Munford – is an attorney with Phelps Dunbar L.L.P. in Jackson, Mississippi. He married Virginia Thomspon Munford and they have three children
