The Story of Isaac
Munford

Isaac M Munford was born at Long Flats Port Macquarie NSW 2444 in
approx. April 1887 Cert No 23933. His Mother was Emily Kew nee Cameron. Emily
was born in 1866 to William & Sally Cameron
in Port Macquarie, Cert No 13882. Francis & Emily were married in Port
Macquarie in 1886 Cert No 5486. His father Francis (Frank) Munford died in 1907 in Port
Macquarie Cert No 10859. (His grandfather was George J Munford and grandmother
Elizabeth.)
Apparently after Francis died in 1907 Emily remarried Samuel J Kew in Port
Macquarie in 1911. As far as can be ascertained there were no children from
this union. Which is not surprising as she would have been 41 when she
remarried.

Isaac worked as a Bullock driver and a Fettler for The New South Wales railway. It is believed
his siblings were

He served in Gallipoli and with The Heavy French Border Battery Mortars- Service Number -
2313 : Place of Enlistment - Liverpool NSW with the rank of Private in The 18th Infantry Battalion - 1 to 13
Reinforcements (May 1915 - June 1916) He was embarked at Sydney on 30/09/1915 on
the HMAT Argyllshire Ship Number A8. He served at Tel
El Kabir in Egypt later he was hospitalised on 21/4/1916 and then sent to France.
He
returned home to the north coast where he married Phomie Isabel Yarnold
DOB 1895 in 1919 in Port Macquarie Cert No 15291. She died in Taree in 1949
Cert No 27975. Her parents were listed as Arthur James & Mary A Yarnold
(see left). They
had seven children listed below:-
- Alexander Munford married Mavis Mary Grace Clark in 1950
Cert. No. 15531 in Kogarah NSW. They had a son Alan Michael Munford who
died in Wollongong NSW in 1952 Certificate Registration Number 14792. Alex is believed
to have died in the ACT. Mavis died in 1972 in Taree NSW Certificate Registration Number
62800
- Lawrence Charles Munford Date of birth - 08 Jun 1926 : Place of
birth - Port Macquarie NSW. Had no children. In WWII just after he turned 18
years of age on 7 Nov 1944 he enlisted in Royal Australian Air Force Service
Number - 166289 at WOOLLOOMOOLOO He was discharged on 4 May 1945. His posting at
Discharge was 2 RECRUIT DEPOT (STAFF) with the Rank of Aircraftman 1. He died in Westmead
hospital after being hit by a car while riding a push bike in the Harrington
area of NSW.
- Nancy Mary Munford ….married George Anthony (Snow) Sands in 1941 in Taree
Certificate Registration Number 6281. They had 2 daughters Isabelle
Sands and Gloria Sands.
- Isabel Jean Munford….married Louis James Mckee US Army in 1945
in Taree Certificate Registration Number 17864. They had 2 boys Louis McKee
Jnr and Arthur Ross Mckee. She later married C A Donald had five more children Cheyel
Donald, Trevor Donald, Deborah Donald, Jeffery Donald
(Deceased) and Julie Donald.
- Phyllis Evelyn Munford …Married Leo Clarence Holden in Taree in 1954
Certificate Registration Number
4499. They had a son Andrew John Holden,
born 1/11/1955 in Sydney and two daughters Mary Ann Holden and Lea Ann Munford.
Andrew married Suzanne Copp on
26/11/1977, and they have two living daughters.
- Francis Arthur Munford. DOB 4 Apr 1920 POB Wauchope NSW
He married Edna Bell in 1941 in Taree Certificate Registration Number 6290.
He joined the Army in WWII and served with the rank of Private Service
No NX47341 He was posted to 2/20 Battalion 2/19 Australian Infantry Battalion
and later was a gunner with the 4th Anti Tank Regiment. He was taken prisoner by Japanese at Singapore and later he was a part of
the Death march. He Died on 6 Feb 1945 in a POW Camp in Borneo - Source:

- Dulcie Muriel Munford…Married Mervyn Henry Edward (Ned) Croker
in 1946 in Taree Certificate Registration Number
29497. They had several children…Barry Croker, Barbra Croker and John
Croker.
Isaac Munford died in Taree Manning Hospital in 1955 from a stroke and is buried
in the cemetery at Kundle Kundle 2430 near Taree NSW the exact whereabouts of grave is
unknown. NSW BDM Registry records his death as Isaac Mumford Certificate Registration Number
31502.
