How to install the LAME MP3 ACM codec

Software: How to install LAME MP3 ACM codec

Step 1:

Download the codec: click here

 

Step 2:

Use "Winzip" ( http://www.winzip.com ) to decompress the ZIP file into it's own folder...

In Windows explorer, Right mouse click on the zip file to open the menu
--> Select the Winzip option
--> then select the "Extract to folder ... lameACM-20020202" option

 

There should now be a new folder called lameACM-20020202 that contains the following files:

lame2.png (27124 bytes)

These files should be in the lameACM-20020202 folder

 

Step 3:

Install the codec by doing the following:

lame3.png (10006 bytes)

Right mouse click on the LameACM.inf file
--> Click on Install

You may encounter the following prompt:

lame4.png (12947 bytes)

Click on the Continue Anyway button

 

Step 4:

Check that the codec can be used.  You can use any program where you can choose an audio codec.  The following screen shot is from VirtualDub:

Success!  The LAME MP3 codec can be used.
