What a great kickoff to season 2009. Putting 102 against the Roosters in both grades was a fantastic result. Our second best season starting win behind the 63-0 we put on University in 1937, and inflicting the highest ever first round loss against the Roosters. And overall the highest points ever against the Roosters and our 10th overall biggest win.
Looks like our biggest issue in years has been settled. The power of Sutton at 5/8 was too much to handle and the shear vrashness of Sandow is the new great Souths halves combination for years to come.
Another few weeks of trials of 2 Referee system and the most notible change to the game has been change that allows to ruck referee to judge on ruck issues without needing a video referee referal. This has speed up the game with the big men not getting a rest and as a result Souths Mosquito Squadran is cashing in big time.
A group of players made their South Sydney debuts in round 1. Shaune Corrigan made his NRL debut with a great defensive spell. Colin Best and Rhys Wesser look like they are going to make a real contribution to our team both scoring tries on debut.
Another great weekend and we instantly pass our target of 8000 season ticketed members. Now to see how far we can go.
