Creates a mod folder in the Mods directory for a selected game. A custom window displays some input controls and a checkbox. The user adds the mod files that have been downloaded and ends up with a setup mod.
The Mod Name is used for the folder name and so should be like alpha-numerical. Special characters should be avoided. If ModConfig.txt is used, then spaces should be OK. Mod Name will also be used for the readme.txt header.
The Mod Version usually may default as 1.0, though some modders like a version with a leading 0. Suggest an accurate version as it informs of current version and if a later version has been released. Used for the readme.txt.
The Campaign Included checkbox should be left unchecked for most Mods as they may not include a campaign. Used for the readme.txt.
The Quote By and Quote are linked as the Quote is usually what the mod site/author describes about the mod and the Quote By is the site that the quote come from. Used for the readme.txt.
Any other details can be freely add to the readme.txt file. User opinions, ratings... can be added to comments.txt file to keep the readme.txt concise.
Once the Continue button is clicked, then the process of creating the folder and files will happen. A Msgbox may display upon completion and offer additional advice like:
Add .big and .skudef files into the directory. These files come from the mod downloaded from a mod site.
Add splash.jpg into the folder named Launcher. This splash.jpg file is usually the main image that the mod is released with. It will display in the launcher when the mod is selected.
If splash.jpg is not found, then try the pattern splash*.jpg. If more than one file found then use a random file as the Splash image. So instead of splash.jpg, could have for example splash1.jpg and splash2.jpg.
Optionally add other .jpg files into the folder named Launcher. Other .jpg files should be the filename case that will be displayed in the combobox. These files can be some Snapshots from the game or some images from the mod author. The user is free to choose what is suitable.
Optionally create a file named comments.txt in the root of the mod directory to store hints, tips, ratings... about the mod.
The jpg and txt files mentioned should then be listed in the View combobox of the launcher. Allows quick access from the launcher rather than having to click through a file explorer.
Optionally suggest to make a folder named Extras to store related files. Some mod authors may supply extra files so can be kept in a known location.
Want to open the folder now? Opens a file explorer to the new mod folder so you can add the mod files and any other files.
If done well, the new mod will be in a ready state for the launcher.
The layout of a Mod named like A New Experience in the Mods directory:
\---Mods \---A New Experience | Core_1.0.big | Core_1.0.skudef | Delta_1.0.big | Delta_1.0.skudef | Omega_1.0.big | Omega_1.0.skudef | Ypsilon_1.0.big | Ypsilon_1.0.skudef | \---Launcher Mod Delta.jpg Mod Omega.jpg Mod Ypsilom.jpg splash.jpg
The 4 images in the folder named Launcher will be listed in the View combobox. The case of splash.jpg will display as Splash as it is a known file, though the others should have the desired case. The 4 .skudef files will be buttons to select from to run the game. The .skudef names should be name, underscore and version. If ModConfig.txt is used then restrictions of length... can be ignored within reason.
