Muscle
stimulation and feedback.

Exercise
in the early stages following an injury or as above following surgery may be
enhanced by electrical stimulation. This can start to move
muscles which have become inhibited. The mirror (shown in the right corner)
gives visual feedback to ensure correct posture and technique.
Electronic biofeedback can help provide visual and audible feedback to ensure
specific muscles are working during exercises. The type of posture used during
exercise can enhance or hinder the desired muscle activity, and so effective
rehabilitation. Postural retraining is explained in more detail in another section.
