Yuan-Chi Tai-Chi
Classes in Mortdale,
as from Sat. 7th November 2009.There is a Tai Chi class at Mortdale Memorial Park near the corner of Boundary Road and Martin Place.. but register soon! It is on each Saturday morning from 8am to 9am. First week, Saturday November 7th is a 16 week course teaching section 1 of the form. There are 3 sections to the complete main form, which are learned in sequence one at a time. It is therefore best if a foundation group starts together. My wish is that this will become an ongoing weekly class so keep the details if you may be interested in starting in the future.
I am Andrew Rohowyj the principle physiotherapist of Mortdale Physiotherapy who is conducting the class and will be at times accompanied by my teacher Master Ric Lum, or another of my fellow students. The cost for section 1 is $21 per lesson. Pensioners and dependants of somebody who is enrolled in the class will be able to pay $11. I have been doing this Tai Chi with Ric Lum for over 5 years and have found it to be very enjoyable and relaxing. There is improved concentration after practice, which has been useful for study, meditation or any kind of creative work like playing music.
My experience supports evidence in the literature of improved fitness and health from this ancient and very balanced form of exercise. Postures used in particularly this form of Tai Chi are now my basis for postures used in rehabilitation in general, following surgery or after injury. It is to me a beneficial form of physical exercise that is based in my perception on a very subtle connection with a sound physical, and at the same time much deeper foundation of the living energy system (the Chinese call the energy Chi, and describe a network of meridians), in this case in a very pure and un polluted form.
I am including a link to the Constant Balance website. Please explore this website as it has much interesting information about this particular style of Tai Chi, specifically Yuan-Chi Tai-Chi, as developed by Master Ric Lum, Students' Viewpoints, the benefits of Tai Chi, a historical perspective, and more about our particular approach and way of teaching.
I would appreciate it if you could let me know ASAP if you wish to enrol in this course. If you know of any other person who may be interested or you think may benefit from joining this class, please let them know ASAP.
