Less Mainstream Physiotherapy

Andrew is trained in Australian mainstream Physiotherapy (G.D. Maitland), Osteopathic, Nordic-Orthopaedic, and Mulligan's Concept methods of mobilisation, traction and manipulation of the spine and peripheral joints.

Andrew has long had a keen interest in learning, both new, and alternative physical therapies, that work. He is trained in and uses: Therapeutic Massage, Myofacial Release, Acupuncture (including Chinese massage, cupping and spooning). He uses and sometimes integrates Nordic Orthopedic, Osteopathic Manipulation and Muscle Energy mobilisation, and Osteopathic Cranio-Sacral balancing.

At Mortdale Physiotherapy, we pay particular attention to checking for and treatment of Adverse Neural Tension. Andrew uses Janda principles of assessment and treatment of muscle imbalance when designing individualised exercise programs. These exercise programs usually have a big emphasis on posture during exercise, and ultimately in the improvement of posture long term. Exercise can often be enhanced by visual, tactile, and at times electronic biofeedback.

Andrew is a long time practitioner of Sahaja Yoga Meditation, and Yuan Chi Tai Chi Chuan, and teaches both meditation and Tai Chi. Information on ongoing classes and courses are found clicking on links on the main page.

All these forms of therapy are described to you if you follow the various links on this web site.
