Prostitution.
Having lived in Queensland through the 70's I found it amusing to see a very
conservative government in the Bjelke Peterson regime allowing the brothels in
Brisbane to flourish. Of course they claimed they never knew where they
were, but even I, who had never been in any of them, could point them out
easily.
I have been a supporter of the legalisation of many prohibited substances and
practices. My philosophy is that legalisation with appropriate legislation
can remove the criminal element to industries that have propped up and supported
the criminal underworld
In my opinion Prohibition, the greatest social experiment ever, proved this
point lucidly.
Prostitution is one of those practices which governments don't want to
address. I suppose they think that they're dammed if they do and the same
if they don't.
What do you think?
