 Nudity Quotes

Fig leaves belong on trees, not people. - Corky Stanton

Body shame, like prejudice, is not natural. It is learned from others and benefits no one.

Not all the Greek runners in the original Olympics were totally naked. Some wore shoes. - Mark Twain

“I wouldn't do nudity in films. For me, personally... To act with my clothes on is a performance; to act with my clothes off is a documentary.” Julia Roberts.

"If you want to see a comic strip, you should see me in the shower." - Groucho Marx

Nudity.

Because my wife is a nurse, I remember her coming home and telling me the story of a elderly woman in a nursing home who had never permitted he husband of many many years ever to see her nude.  This is only one example of the Victorian hangover which still exist in our society.  Tragic as it is these types of attitudes are all too common.

Well believe it or not we are all born in the buff.  And I suppose that our preoccupation with hiding our bodies has led to some of the dysfunctional attitudes and behaviours in regard to nudity.

I remember watching a Discovery Channel program while on holidays once on a South American Tribe.  Like many primitive tribes they live almost totally in the nude.  In this particular tribe the women had numerous husbands.  What struck me was the nonchalant nature of there bare state.  With no hang-ups with their state of undress they would probably never have much of a problem with the idea of pornography.  I suppose it would be like trying to them porn would be like selling ice creams to the Eskimos.

It is hard for most of us to imagine turning up to work in the buff or lining up at Woolies wearing nothing but a smile.  Because of the way we have been socialised, nudity is often regarded as inappropriate.  Well it has to be all or nothing.  But I do wonder about more liberated countries and their attitudes to nudity and sexuality in general.  It seems to be that they have less dysfunctional behaviour in regards to these issues.  But then again what is dysfunctional and who sets the boundaries?
