Rose's comments on Hermaphrodites
I personally know a 'doctor'
(or sorts for want of keeping personalities and careers out of the subject) -
who at 50 years of age learnt that HE was in fact transgender when born.
HIS parents chose to make HIM a BOY as they already had girl children.
At the age of 50 - never
having felt comfortable with HIMself or his sexuality, made some enquiries,
only to learn that at birth HE had both genders (transgender/hermaphrodites).
HIS parents had chosen to MAKE HIM A BOY (they already had daughters! - not
much was known, obviously, about the repercussions).
50 years later - knowing he
had a penis, however then learning that HE had also
OVARIES............realized his longing for the female lifestyle. HE had
2 children from a previous marriage some 18 years ago and another child to his
present 'wife' 4 years ago.
'HE/SHE' is continuing
as a professional practitioner in HER field. Always has been - always
will be a professional. SHE is still with her second wife and
youngest daughter.
How dreadful is that story.
How devastating to one's self image and family must this be. However, it
is a SCIENTIFIC FACT and reality that this transgender occurs.
Lets be a little more
responsive to them - instead of thinking of them as cross-dressers or
transvestites! (perhaps this is the case is some instances - but give
the person the benefit of the doubt). MOST LIKELY YOU WILL NOT
HAVE TO ASK THE QUESTION, THEY WILL WANT TO TALK ABOUT
IT..............................they did not choose this life or situation for
themselves.

Thanks Rose. I had a
Christian friend who had some fairly weird ideas about hermaphrodites. He
reckoned you could pick them. Like many people they remain an enigma
(something which cannot be satisfactorily explained). I raised the subject
because many Christians claim the Bible has an answer for everything. The
reality of hermaphrodites and the way they have been "gender assigned"
without much thought is sad. Hopefully we can all learn to understand the
topic of sexuality in a more mature way by learning about the reality of
hermaphrodites.
