God

Every religion has their own spin on what God is like.  What makes the Christian version the correct one?

God and Creation

I confront this topic on a daily basis.  Not a day goes by where I don't hear about a killer virus, cancer or disease and that excludes so called" natural disasters' and "acts of God".  Creationists would tell us that God created this world good and perfect and Satan basically stuffed it up.  So did God create everything?  Who was it that created those deadly bacteria and diseases that plague humanity.  I am led to believe that Malaria alone kills around a million people a year.  See http://www.cdc.gov/malaria/faq.htm#disease.  And Malaria is spread by the infected bloody mosquito (pardon the pun). So is the parasite that causes Malaria another part of God's good creation?

There are thousands and thousands of diseases and bacteria that cause death and destruction.  For me this brings the loving creator theory into serious question.  No wonder so many people find it easier to believe in a world that has evolved.  For me I'm not sure either way, but I do question the Biblical version of God.  I'm not sure I want to pay homage to that sort of God.

So give me your thoughts.

All too often people make decisions because their own mind can't fathom the science behind many ideas.  History has demonstrated this by showing us that mysticism and religion are the norm until science can show otherwise.  Most thought the world was flat until science demonstrated that it wasn't.  All sorts of ideas were proposed when we didn't understand what was beyond the sky.  So many Christians are happy to maintain their religious views about creation because the small amount of data they have received about our origins don't make sense to them.

What do you think?
