William Masters died 24 June 1849 buried at Barwick, Somerset, England age 69 of Stoford (born 1780).

 

He married Hannah Bartlett 20 June 1803 at Barwick, Somerset, England 

and witnesses were Thomas Masters, Samuel Bartlett, Elizabeth Pryall

The witnesses would likely be Thomas Masters brother of William, Samuel Bartlett brother of Hannah,

Elizabeth Pryall or could be Ryall is  a bit of a mystery she is mentioned in will of Samuel Bartlett in 1854

i.e 100 pounds to Nathaniel Ryall a natural son of Elizabeth Ryall late of Thornton in the County of Dorset spinster

 

A witness of marriage George Warry to Hannah Bartlett Masters 15 Feb 1825 at Barwick, Somerset, England  was Elizabeth Masters

( Likely Hannah’s sister who 4 years later married Edward Gillingham)

(2)     Hannah Bartlett Masters bap 12 May 1805 at Barwick, Somerset married George Warry 15 Feb 1825 at Barwick, Somerset

(3)     Elizabeth Masters bap 27 Sep 1807 Barwick, Somerset married Edward Gillingham 31 Dec 1829 at Barwick, Somerset

 

William Masters was mentioned in the will of his father-in-law Robert Bartlett  proved 10 May 1821 Consistorial Archdeacons Court of Wells

This is the last Will and Testament of me Robert Bartlett of the parish of Stafford in the County of Somerset, Baker

First I give and devise all that my garden plot with the appurtenances situate in Silver Street in the parish of Stafford aforesaid surrounded by the lands

of Mr Fisher and the lands belonging to the Almshouse of Yeovil in the said County to my son in law William Masters of Stafford aforesaid ,

 Cordwainer, his heirs and assigns for ever. Etc

 

William Masters thought to be son of John Masters and Deborah Follett of South Petherton, Somerset, England       whose children were

 

(1)   Thomas Masters born about 1767 married Elizabeth Moncton/Monkton 10 October 1786 South Petherton. Thomas likely died 4 jan 1836 at South Petherton aged 72 years and Elizabeth his wife likely died 14 March 1847 at South Petherton aged 84

(2)   John Masters baptised 4 February 1770 South Petherton, Somerset likely the John Masters aged 79 in 1851 census North Petherton

(3)   Peter Masters baptised 3 April 1772 married Rebecca Best 23 April 1797 at Shepton Beauchamp, Somerset, England . Likely the Peter Masters in 1841 census Kingsbury, East Lambrook aged 70 in 1841 census and likely the Peter Masters died JQ 1847 Yeovil RD vol 10 page 438. Rebecca is likely the Rebecca Masters died 29 October 1847 aged 85

#2 banns for Samuel Masters marriage to Susannah Frampton both of Barwick were published 17, 24, 31 January 1808

 

#3 William Masters  married Anne Gillingham 16 April 1836 at Lopen, Somerset and they emigrated to Victoria, Australia on the vessel ‘TASMAN’ in 1848. William died soon after arrival in 1850.
