Clinical COding REsources 2008

This website has been in operation since 2004 and is specifically for those working with the Clinical Classification field. Health Information Managers (HIMs) and Clinical Coders may find this site useful. However, others involved in the health industry, and those interested in working in this particular field may also find this site useful.
...a bit about me - Matthew

I graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Business in Health Information Management from QUT, Kelvin Grove. I currently work at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, Queensland Australia.

...do HIMS and Clinical Coders do?

Health information managers work in a variety of areas such as health records administrators, clinical coders, researchers, managers, health insurance workers and project officers. There are basically two streams within the coding profession.  Those HIMs with a degree on the professional officer award and administrative officers who gain their knowledge from accredited courses.

I encourage others to think about specific field as it is an interesting and rewarding career path to consider.  There are several ways to start a career as a HIM or Clinical Coder.  Please see the education section to the various institutions which offer university or accredited training in this profession.
