On Thursday night Cactus Blue at
Neutral Bay was excellent value with 6 tapas and a complimentary
cocktail. It is definitely worth a visit and you should join us next
time we go back there. The tapases were fantastic.
On Friday night we had the salsa night
on the Rhythm boat and it was all guys in our group as all the girls
canceled out due to exhaustion or too many men. The men were
disappointed that none of our ladies turned up and two of them walked
out so there you are girls: it does happen that we have nights with
all men and no women at all. In fact so far this month I have had
more men than women join the club, 6 women and 8 men this month so
far.
Saturday night was very successful at
Hinode Japanese Restaurant at Chatswood with 20 people along. Hinode
does nothing over $10 and the food was good. People ordered what they
like and I’m told there were some matches.
A comment on the Salsa cruise: Hi
David, the salsa cruise was fantastic the dj was very funny and I
danced with some very nice women. I had the time of my life. When is
the next one?

Wednesday night was good value with a dinner and dessert for only
$17.50. It is surprizing more people don’t come as we are getting
some very good prices now. Also we had more than twice as many men as
women so the ladies stayed away because of the good price.
Friday night at Ban Remo was
recommended but it was as very noisy place. The meals were reasonable
but we left to go somewhere else where we could talk.
River Canyon on Saturday night at
Parramatta was the best value all year. For only $29 we had a gourmet
buffet and a three part hawaiian show with fire and hula dancers. It
was the best night but only 10 came and it was only $29! The usual
price is $39. Well worth a visit if you want to take someone along to
a very impressive dinner and show for a good price.

At Isabella’s at Randwick on
Wednesday night we had even numbers.
On Friday at Portofino’s at
Leichhardt we had 14 along and it was a reasonable night but the
people were nice.
On Saturday night we were at Thai Rim
Nam at Como and it was more than twice as many men as women as the
women stayed away. We heard that some women came as far as the car
park and then ran away so they would not meet the men. We never got
to meet them so it was mostly disappointed men.
The Ryhthm boat on Sunday with the
Elvis show was great fun and we again had 14 along for the show. The
food was great. We are going there agsin for the salsa cruise on
Friday 12th.
On Sunday night we were at
Paddy’s Brewery in Flemington for the coupon deal and that went
well. Many thanks to the person who brought along the coupons as we
had half price dinners on the night.

night with a small number at the Taren Point Bowling Club. The band
was good and it was a very lively night.
On Saturday night we
switched venues to the Basil and Mint in Neutral Bay because the
original venue said they wanted a minimum spend of $45 per head for a
thai dinner so we weren’t going to put up with that. We had 28 on
the night and every seat available for us. It was full a very
successful night.
On Monday we
had speeddating but some women did not show up nor have the courtesy
to cancel which showed poor character and no manners. The men were

Friday night at the
Intersection in Ramsgate turned out to be a bit of a dive with not
many of our people turning up. Maybe they they know this is not like
our usual places so they stayed away. We were seated opposite a
section under renovation but we filled every seat we had.
Saturday at Da Franco’s
at Concord was even numbers, 14, and good value for $30 with plenty
of platters of entrees and mains. I thought it quite good relative to
other places. Da Franco’s was like an well kept Italian restaurant
from the 80’s and would be worth going back to again soon.
On
Sunday we had more than the 8 who were had booked turn up and we
filled all of our seats at Rosabelle’s in Drummoyne Sailing Club.
Unfortunately we could not get onto the veranda as other people had
grabbed it but everyone seemed to enjoy the day and stayed on long
after lunch was over. We will go back there again in August.
Monday
night’s speed dating had even numbers and we had 2 matches. Half
the people who came along got a match which is good.

Friday at the Canada Bay Club it was more men than women and this was
a topic of discussion. Where are all the shy guys. One lady
volunteered to do some ringing of some of the guys on the list to
encourage the shy scaredy cats to come and meet the nice ladies so
we’ll see how that does. Won’t she be a lucky lady and she gets
to date them – as long as she does not get too distracted. Any more
takers who would like to ring the guys to get them to come along?
Saturday
night at Danny’s at La Perouse again saw more ladies than men. The
food was good value and we had the before 7 pm special. This place
would be worth going back to.
On
Sunday for lunch at the Great Northern Hotel is was more than two men
for every woman. It was a man’s day and the ladies found it novel
to have so many men along. Such days were legendary but they never
expected to see it happen. Maybe with the guys being rung we will see
more such days and nights.

At Monday's speed dating at Rozelle we
had 13 along, 7 men and 6 women, and had 4 matches involving 7 people
so just over half of the attendees ended up in a match. About 80%
received selections. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. There is another
speed dating next Monday night for those wishing to find someone new.
On Friday we were at Doyle’s at the
Quay where 28 of us were able to watch the Vivid Festival of lights
on the Opera House. It was a magnificent and imaginative display and
worth a visit. We will be back at doyle’s again for the last Friday
night of Vivid on the 10th July so join us then if you
like.
Saturday night was a change of venue to
Grappa’s Italian Restaurant in Leichhardt. We had more men than
women, 9 men and 5 women on the night. All the guys must be keen on
italian.
Sunday afternoon at St George Rowers at
Wolli Creek was again very pleasant. We stayed so long that some of
us had lunch and dinner there. It was good value – you could get a
full plate of vegies for only $5.
On Friday night we were at Lane Cove
Country Club for a very successful night with 25 along. We were able
to dance to Maria Mendez the vocalist and the Swing Jazz band
accompanying her. We will go back there again soon.
On Saturday
night we were in the ornate Liu Rose in North Strathfield and the
dinner there was good value.
On Sunday for lunch we had 10 along
at Credo's French Restaurant in Cammeray for a three course dinner
for $27.50 each.

At the Rhinedorf in Beverley
Hills on Wednesday night the food didn't seem quite as good as
before. We had more than twice as many men than women along on the
night: 2 women and 5 men.
Pasha's on Friday night was popular and
the banquet well worth having. The belly dancer was fun to watch. It
was a good night.
Saturday night at Bungarribee Bistro at
Blacktown Workers (Carol recommended it) was noisy with kids running
around and like a big cafeteria. The food was good and plenty of it
for $21.50 – a good price for a seafood smorgasbord and very
popular. Afterwards we listened to the live music.
Sunday at
Canterbury Leagues at Belmore had more girls than guys. The food was
good value. We didn't gather in the Heritage Bar as had been planned
because it was too expensive and we were better served in the Bistro.
