How it Started
The original and sole purpose for setting up the Dinner Club as conceived by Eva, whose highly original idea it originally was, was to find herself a man. She knew for this scheme to work she would need a running buddy who was a male for the men to relate to. She put her ideas to me of starting a club which held dinner events (where women could meet and interview the right sort of men in a “non confrontational” environment) and we began and within 3 months she had found a man and completely disappeared after giving me her half of our contact list. Ever since, except for a break or two, I have run Dinner Club ('cause it's so interesting (and while something else settles and then I may do what Eva did (with some currently lacking gentle persuasion))) and its original motivation has remained: for women to find a man, and make friends, at nice events and also for men to find women and be found and make friends.
Members join, come along, often find someone by meeting them in a natural environment and disappear and some come back to repeat the process – and its all very discreet (except maybe for speed dating which is very results oriented and rather open). The membership of the group slowly turns over with a third new and a quarter disappearing each year. There are currently some 1,600 on the free emailout list, some active and some as back up insurance in case they suddenly need to come. Others stay on the list and attend occasionally because they know that a social life is good for balance. Each week new people who are ready for something new come out of nowhere onto the list. -- David

The Dinner Club is a dining and social club in Sydney for generally business and professional singles or sophisticated available people wishing to enjoy conversation based events at social events for singles.
The general events are for people seeking conversation, company, to develop a social life to balance their work life or to make a fresh start and to make new friends and meet members of the opposite sex from different walks of life and maybe discreetly and adventitiously find someone special at a leisurely pace. If you come to enough events you are most likely to find someone special and this is the major reason for our turnover of members.
On four Monday nights per month the Club holds Speed Dating in Sydney events for people wanting to find a partner quickly. Matches are discreetly disclosed on the night to people who have both discreetly selected each other thus forming a sound foundation for a discreet possible partnership or special friendship.
The club is also partnered with a specialist travel organization which specializes in singles holidays and singles travel, both within Australia and overseas.
The club has no joining or membership fees and people currently only pay an attendance fee for the events they attend. Events are generally balanced and are held at different venues most nights per week: the main nights are Friday and Saturday nights at reasonable value venues. It is free to go on the weekly notification email us and you are welcome to stay on the list until you are ready to attend or while you are otherwise preoccupied. Ages tend to range from 30's to 50's.
It is now possible, and preferred, to pay a nominal 3, 6, 12, 24 or 36 month “membership” fee ($50, $75, $100, $150, $200) to cover the attendance fee at all events for that period and then pay nothing more to the club. During a 12 month period there are some 300 events so the fee is very good value and you are requested to attend as many events as you wish to get your money's worth. The fee can be put on hold if needs be. The more people attend the more people there are to meet and the better it is for everyone.

New people are welcome, there is no membership fee and a different mix of people attend each night so there are many new people to meet. Coming events for this week, and following, are listed below.
** Bookmark this site on your favourites list so you can check each week what events are coming up. Print off this list so you will have a list of events and can show others. Note that sometimes dates and events change at short notice so check the webpage each week. This website is updated weekly late on Monday nights.

**If you would like, at the end of the week, to visit nice restaurants, meet new people, make new friends, enjoy good conversation while at the same time perhaps discovering someone special and sometimes having a dance then come along to these nights. One of the attractions of the nights is the variety of people who attend with new people are attending all the time. Every night is different with a different mix of people attending each night, new people and people who have attended before. The emphasis on the night is on interaction rather than third party entertainment, so get out of your comfort zone and come to meet new people and make new contacts. Make a commitment of coming to at least one event per month and more often if you like.

are the all up prices inclusive of attendance/booking fee.

Where there is no price given for an event there is no charge for
attending the event. This is the case with most events.

event from Monday till Sunday including, the Friday and Saturday
night dinner events, for no booking fee for three months; $75
makes it 6 months and $100 makes it for 12 months; and all three
offers include free attendance at speed dating (normally $30) !
All you then pay on any night is just for your dinner and drinks
and nothing else ! If you meet someone during the 3/6/12 months
period you can put your discount period on hold until you are
ready to use up the balance. Very good value.
Some
pointers written by someone who comes along:
1.When attending any dinners/outings be in a positive mood. Remember that enthusiasm is catching!! 2.Being sociable is a reciprocal activity....so make the most of the evening and circulate/mix with people to make your own evening more varied and interesting. 3.Give feedback. It is good to know what works and what doesn't. 4.Always be pleasant and DO NOT overly discuss previous marital problems unless it is found interesting by other people....too much can be a real turnoff and it classified as BAGGAGE!! The same applies on dates. You really have to move on and leave it behind like scenery receding into the past and getting smaller and eventually over the horizon in your rear view mirror- it will happen if you are moving in life and when you get involved with the problems of other people by listening to them you're own seem to get smaller. After all theirs are more interesting and you learn more when you listening to theirs. When you do all the talking you learn little. This is also one of the keys to successful dating, get the other person to do most of the talking (less work for you) about their favourite subject themselves and compliment them on their good points. Flattery will get you everywhere. 5.Finally NEVER discuss any previous or current members in an adverse or gossipy way. Remember that this can be a turnoff and may say more about you than them and start gossip behind your back. People admire those who find and speak the best of others as everyone has their strengths - -though in some cases you have to be of certain levels to discover them. Remember everyone has their story if you have ears to listen and you can learn from everyone! Try it.

* On some Friday or Saturday nights, numbers and mix permitting, we may have discreet slow speeddating at the end if people ask. If people don't ask on the night we don't do it. Many people come who are not averse to finding a special new friend. ** Slow Speeddating Dinner Party events are held each Friday nights and Saturday night (occasional Dinner House Parties are held on occasional Saturday nights) with numbers of usually 10 - 25 people attending. Bookings (which can be taken up until the last moment if you get a sudden change of plans) are preferred but you can just turn up if unable to get to a phone. Tell friends about these dinners and bring them along. Spread the word.
** A few events are for certain ages and the rest are open. Seating is alternate with moves between courses (known as intercourse rotation) to allow you to meet more people. Arrival time is 7.15 - 7.45 but the food does not usually begin until 8.15. Arrive early to get a good seat (and easier parking). Dress is smart casual. Bring friends if you like to have a night with friends but many people enjoy the night more when they come on their own.
** Some new people who make initial enquiries are shy and and cautious about coming along for the first time on their own and find it daunting to walk into a full room where they don't know anyone and some chicken out. The solution is to arrive first, be the first to arrive around 7pm and watch the others come soon after. It's easy to arrive when there is no one else, but me, there. Or, if you would like to meet me and chat first over coffee it may help you summon up the courage to attend for the first time when you have met someone who will be there on the night. **What you pay for is what you get. Why should you go to mcdonalds type events which are always the same where you can meet clowns. Why only ever go on the web where you will meet spiders. Some say why should I pay $35 - $50 to go out for a dinner night when I can spend $5 - $20 on cheaper other dance party events? If you go to cheap functions (which are always the same) you meet cheap people and the same people. Come to better quality events and you meet better quality people who can sustain a conversation and you get fed unlike those other pick up events and singles hell holes.
** If someone catches your eye but you don't get to talk to them on the night or fail to get their contact details you can send me an email and I will forward it on to them. If someone interests you tell them in an email and arrange to meet during the week or at a future event. Attendees are encouraged to swap numbers on the nights and make new friends.

Some like to entertain and maybe haven't had a chance to do so for a while, others like to have a the deadline of an event as motivation to tidy up the house and kno wing that people are coming for a party motivates them to tidy up like nothing else, others do so to meet a whole lot of people quickly and get known quickly and make as debut so to speak and meet someone special in their own house. You don't have to prepare any food for the dinner houseparties as everyone brings the food or some drinks. Recent experience has shown that most who host dinner house parties find someone on the night for a relationship.
** Promote your business or interest for free! If you have a business or a topic of interest and would like to address an interested group of qualified people one evening on a topic of your choosing or interest or proficiency then contact me and we can organize an interest evening of interested people where you can hold forth on your pet topic. You will need to provide a venue, preferably a house or unit and I will get the people. Also if you have a house or unit you can make available for these free interest evenings contact me also. For these evenings I need both speakers and locations.
