Getting Started

Before Installation

WARNING: If you already have Lotto Magic installed on your computer and intend to do a complete re-installation,  it would be a good idea to backup your existing  C:\LMagic  folder to a safe storage place on your computer or on CD or ZIP drive.  To do this just copy and paste the folder somewhere else,  or rename the folder to something other than LMagic such as LMagic1 etc....  If you have never installed Lotto Magic or don't want to save any data then ignore this advice.

Installation

1.   Simply unzip the contents of LMagic.zip  to a temporary folder and run the program SETUP.EXE

2.   PLEASE NOTE:  Don't forget to copy the  Freescpt.ttf   file  into your Control Panel Fonts folder !   The  Freescpt.ttf file can be found in your  C:\LMagic folder !   NOTE:  Once this file has been copied to the Fonts folder,  its true type font icon display name will be Freestyle Script.   Installing this font will allow Lotto Magic's main display font to become visible.  Failing to install this font may result in the Lotto Magic programs display font to be the wrong type and size,  which may look odd, very large in size and be difficult to read in full.

Applying Updates

1.   Simply unzip the contents of LMUpdate.zip  to a temporary folder and then run SETUP.EXE   Alternatively unzip the contents on LMUpdate.zip to a temporary folder and copy its contents to C:\LMagic

What if I unzip to another folder ?

Well,  if by chance you accidentally unzip the files to another folder,  then simply copy the entire contents of that folder to the folder   C:\LMagic  and replace all existing files.

Before you begin to use this program, here are some important pointers.

1.   Gather important details about your lottery such as maximum number of balls in the lottery, number of balls drawn, number of winning balls , ticket cost, prize and winnings information etc... This information can often be obtained from a registered lottery outlet or from your state lottery web site.

2.    If you plan to import your draw data, the most common format for this data is text format, delimited by commas. Although the import function can deal with other delimiter characters, where possible, commas are the most recommended. You can normally download this information from your state lottery web site.

3.    If you intend to print on lottery coupons rather than manually filling them out, you will need to get a bunch of coupon forms from your registered lottery outlet. These forms can then be used to initially design your lottery coupon form printing set-up and then be used for actual printing of coupons.

Much more to come, stay tuned !

Congratulations ! You have now learnt how to get started.
