Welcome to my webpage for the Memory Card Exploit for the PlayStation 2. Last update took place on the 07/01/2007.
Everything hosted on my website has been compressed with WinRAR, you can download WinRAR from Here.
This guide was written for ExploitStation. Many more guides regarding PlayStation 2 hacking can be found there.
This is the first ever tutorial I have ever wrote. I want to try and make this tutorial as simple as possible for the not so intelligent people (I.E. Me.). It took me almost 2 weeks of trying different combinations on getting the exploit working, as well as HD Loader. This guide is also for people without access to a USB storage device. The HD Loader version I'm including has been patched with the 48Bit patch, making it able to read hard drives that are bigger than 120GB in size. I'll try to keep this short and above all, simple.
Tools needed:
Here is the link to the files need - Download.
For this exploit, I will be using Future Cop L.A.P.D., this PS1 game works fine for the exploit. At least 95% of PS1 games will work with this exploit. If you have problems with booting off your trigger disc, please try a different game.
Start by inserting your original PS1 game into your computer. Open up notepad by going Start > Run > Notepad. Then, File > Open > Choose All Files for Files of type. Guide yourself to the CD-ROM of where the PS1 game is located, open the System.CNF file. You should see the following: (This will not be identical unless you're using Future Cop L.A.P.D.) See figure below:
What you want, is the region code after cdrom:\ In my case, it's SLES_014.49, you'll have the same if using Future Cop L.A.P.D. Note this number down in a safe place.
Download the files from my webpage, (If you're too lazy: Right click and Save Target Here.) Extract them to your C:\ drive. Once extracted, click on Start > Run > CMD. This will open the command prompt.
In the command prompt, type in CD\MC and press Enter. See figure below:
"Titleman –a REGIONCODE" Press Enter. See figure below:
If everything worked out correctly. Close the Command Prompt. Make your way to the MC folder located on your Local Disk (C:\). Once located, delete the Titleman file as it is not needed. You'll need to obtain Nero for the next step, you can download a trial version from Here. Run Nero Burning ROM, not the Express version, as we need to set some different options.
Once in Nero, chose No Multisession. See figure below:
Next, click on the ISO tab, and set the following options:
See figure below:
Click on New, locate you MC folder, you can call the CD whatever you like to. See figure below:
You need to drag and drop the contents of the MC folder into the ISO side (Left side) of the compilation. See figure below:
Chose Recorder from the top and chose Burn Compilation or press Control + B. See figure below:
Select the burn speed of 8x, I recommend you keep the speed around this limit.
Once done, click Burn! Run your Swap Magic CD 3.3 on the PlayStation 2, once it has started up, you’ll see the following:
Change the Swap Magic CD with your exploit CD and press X to continue. It will start to transfer files across to your memory card, once done, you’ll see the following:
Restart your PlayStation 2 with the PS1 trigger disc inserted, you'll the see the following if you have a HDD installed:
You won't have the HDLOADER.ELF file there, we can copy that to the HDD for easier access instead of having to change over to the memory card every time. In order to do that, press triangle with nothing highlighted, this will set the destination path.
Press R1 and choose MC0: This is your memory card, go into the BEDATA-SYSTEM or the BADATA-SYSTEM folder. See figure below:
If you're in Australia/New Zealand (PAL), you’ll see BEDATA-SYSTEM/
If you're in America (NTSC), you'll see BADATA-SYSTEM/
Locate HDLOADER.ELF. See figure below:
Once located, press triangle to transfer the HDLOADER.ELF file to the HDD. When the transfer is complete, press R1 and select PFS0:. All you have to do now, is restart the PS2 with the PSX trigger disc in the PS2, it’ll load the menu and show the HDD straight away, all you have to do, is simply move down and select HDLOADER.ELF, it’ll then load the 48Bit patched version of HD Loader.
