I have been interested in art my whole life, drawing and creating from a very young age. Concentrating on Art and Graphic subjects through my high school life I excelled and graduated Dux of the class in Studio Arts, Art and Graphics. I then went on to study Visual Arts at Latrobe University Bendigo.

At University I was exposed to all mediums and techniques eventually deciding to major in Printmaking where Lithography and portraiture became my passion.
I graduated from University with Distinction and won the graduate prize of a travel scholarship overseas to a destination of my choice. I chose to travel to Europe and proceeded to live there and create works for the next twelve months.

I have had a few group exhibitions however most of my work has been created due to private commissions. My work exists in private collections across Australia, London and New Zealand.

I work in all mediums, Paint (oil and acrylic), charcoal, pencil, pastel, conte, lino cuts, murals, etchings and Lithographs. My first love and prefered subject matter is Portraits in all mediums, however I can create images with any subject. I welcome requests for any style or subject and I will take any challenge.

One of the most recent comments about my work is that it feels unresolved and incomplete due to the various styles I choose to work in. It has been suggested that I need to find a style and stick to it. I have been advised that the unspoken rule of the Commercial gallery is that an artists folio must consist of a collection of work and all those works must be in the same style to be accepted and appreciated. My work challenges this rule. I don't work in a variety of styles because I am undecided on what style I want to work in. I work in a variety of styles because my art work is an extension of myself. It is a reflection of my personality. I have chosen a subject matter that I am passionate about and my varying styles reflects my moods, the mood of my subject and is generally used to evoke an emotion within the viewer. My work is not designed to be a cohesive collection that 'feels' uniformly comfortable to the viewer. If having a variety of works within the one exhibition makes the viewer uncomfortable, I like that addtional dimesion. I believe that if you have strong conviction in the work that you produce and you enjoy the work you produce it will speak for itself.

If you have any feedback for me or a response to the above comment please feel free to email me or post a message in my guestbook.

I have had many influences over the years. The artists that have influenced me the most would be Frank Auerbach, Lucien Frued, Mike Parr, Francis Bacon, John Robinson, Jennifer Marshall, Master Printer - Peter Lancaster. There have been many more but these people have had the most impact on my work.

Helen and Michael from Ochre Gallery in Collingwood of Melbourne played a small yet vital role in kick starting my art career in 2005 after a relatively uninspired/unproductive period prior to that. I will be forever grateful to them for that.
