Conditions of Entry |

The conditions of entry for the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award are as follows: 1. Secondary school students of twelve years and above but under fifteen years of age on 1st January each year shall be eligible. For competitors above this age limit see the Plain English Speaking Award. 2. Entry is to be on the official entry form, the completion of which indicates the agreement by the competitor to abide by the conditions of entry for the competition. 3. Provided that a competitor has not won a national final, they may compete more than once in the competition. 4. In the event of a zone winner being unable to attend and participate in any state final, a runner-up may attend. The same applies at the National Final level. 5. Participants in the National Final are to provide typed copies of their prepared speeches. 6. The Organisers reserve the right to reproduce the contestants’ speeches. 7. Contestants must be aware that their speeches might be used for publication. Consequently, in accordance with the Copyright Act, speech content should be the original work of the speaker, with all quotations and direct references properly acknowledged. Material must not be plagiarized from other printed or spoken sources. 8. The adjudicators’ decision is final at all levels of the competition and no correspondence on a decision will be conducted subsequent to the competition. 9. All prizes are to be used by the winners and are neither transferable nor redeemable for cash or any other consideration. 10. Competitors are to wear school uniform or an appropriate alternative if a uniform is not part of a schools requirement. 11.It is the entrant’s responsibility to check all requirements of entry. |
