KAWANGWARE PROJECT - 2011

WELCOME TO A WEB SITE THAT SHARES A PASSION FOR THE POOR!

The purpose of this site is to tell the story of the partnership between the Barrabool Hills Baptist Church (BHBC) in Geelong Australia and the Christ's Restoration Centre (CRC) Church in the Kawangware (K) Slum on the outskirts of Nairobi Kenya. It's a partnership that seeks to bring transformation to K plus other communities where CRC ministers. K is one of the larger slums in Africa with an estimated population of 400,000 living in an area of approximately 4 sq km. The vision of the CRC team in K is not to take the people out of the slum, but to take the slum out of the people.

LATEST NEWS - 27/11/11

* The building of the new multi-purpose facility in K continues slowly due to unforeseen delays and is expected to be completed by the end of January 2012.

* A medical clinic was held early in November at Kibachenje Western Kenya. Just under 1,000 patients were attended to in the 2 day clinic. A number of jiggers cases were found and treated. A small team from Geelong participated in the clinic.

This was the last clinic for 2011.

* The CRC school has completed another successful year. The new year commences early in January.
