Epping and District Probus
Club Inc. – Walk Program
Thursday 23rd March 2017
We have a great start to our walking
season with a walk through a beautiful, little known oasis close to home, Ferndale and Lane
Cove River
Parks.
This one has a bit of everything, street and bush tracks, creek crossings and
steps. It is a walk of approximately 7km with no time limits as there is regular
Transport.
Meet at Epping Station at 8.50 am to catch the 8.56 am
train to Artarmon arriving at approximately 9.15 am.
Short street walk through Artarmon shopping centre to Ferndale Park entrance and a morning tea stop.
We
then walk through the park and exit near Fullers Bridge Road. This is a well maintained walking track with
steps, foot bridges and creek stepping stones.
Then we walk down to the entrance of the Lane Cove National Park for lunch and a toilet
stop. There is a regular bus service
from this point along Delhi
and Fullers Rd
to take you home if necessary.
After
lunch we join a section of the Great North Walk along the Lane Cove River and exit near the Mowbray Road and
tunnel entrances to catch a bus along Epping
Road back to Epping Station. This section of the walk is slightly harder
in places but does take us to interesting historical points and is well worth
the effort.
