In Orienteering, Arthur was controller of the Australian Schools' Relay Championships and vetter for the Australian Schools' Championships in 2004.He was also one of the vettors for the Australian 3-Days Championships during Easter 1991 and setter and controller for the Queen's Birthday 3-Day (QBIII) event in 1992. He has also organised, set and controlled state level events for the Newcastle Orienteering club from 1989 to the present including the 2000 NSW Long Championships held west of Wakefield and Killingworth. In Rogaining, Arthur has been organiser, setter and/or vettor for a number of events including the 1997 Socialgaine (a 6-hour street and urban bushland rogaine). This was set in Newcastle, New South Wales (Australia) and commemorated the bicentennial of the city. About half of the control sites utilised buildings of architectural significance; others were located within the large tracts of urban bushland all within a 12 kilometre radius of Newcastle's historic centre and prime beaches. Arthur was also one of the vettors for the 1999 NSW Rogaining Championships held in the Yengo National Park, near Wollombi.
