Recently Arthur Kingsland has been working
for a local Chemical Engineering company who is pioneering new carbon
technologies,
cleaning up the process, capturing and refining waste products as well
as conducting research into allied advanced environmentally friendly
energy sources. Arthur's role has been as a 3D modeller, and to a lesser
extent, documenter of the designs for fabrication.
Specifically the work entailed:
- 3D Design modelling (Autodesk Inventor
and AutoCAD) – major
site detailing and extensive plant layout, materials handling, pressure
(& other) vessels, fluidised bed coal and biomass processing equipment,
solar thermal collector modelling, pipe and duct routing, development
of Inventor libraries;
- 2D documentation of mechanical and chemical engineering plant & equipment;
and
- Development of the quality assurance program refining the policies,
developing company best practice standards, documenting work instructions,
and preparation
of learning materials.
For many years Arthur
was a member of, then finally the Head of,
the
Discipline
for
Architecture
at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He
runs
a
multi-disciplinary consulting business with expertise in architectural
and professional education, computer aids to learning including internet
and stand-alone applications. He also has expertise in Irish Set Dance
Instruction and Australian Colonial Dance Instruction and in map and
compass
navigational sport organisation and setting (i.e. Orienteering and
Rogaining).
Arthur Kingsland has expertise in a number of areas of tertiary education,
particularly the development of integrated curricula in professional
disciplines
and Problem Based Learning. Other areas of expertise include web developments,
computer aided learning facilities, professional programming and specialist
map production and cartography. He developed the original web site for
the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Design at the University of
Newcastle, Australia. He was, for a number of years, the WebEditor of Academic
Exchange Extra, the online adjunct to the academic journal Academic
Exchange Quarterly, and creates and maintains the pages for Newcastle
Irish Set Dancers and the Hunter
Folk Dancers.
Arthur Kingsland has produced maps for Newcastle
Orienteering Club and is one of the dedicated band of organisers,
setters and controllers for high quality major orienteering and rogaining
events organised by the Newcastle
Orienteering Club and the New
South Wales Rogaining Association.
With his partner, Julia Smith, Arthur also teaches and calls Irish Set
dances with Newcastle Irish Set Dancers
and Australian Colonial, English Country, Scottish Country, American
Contra and couples dances with the Hunter
Folk Dancers.
