2002 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - CHATELLERAULT, FRANCE

In 2002 we booked a Chateau for the World Championships in Chatellerault, France for a two week period and shared the cost equally. The accommodation was four suites of the C18th Chateau and two cottages.  All facilities were available for use by everyone - kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, outdoor terraces, parking, fields. ‘Fire Balloons’ were indicated as a ‘Leisure on the spot’ so we made good use of the lawn in front to the chateau, mown especially by our host. It was one to the best launch fields I could have imagined.

The capacity of the chateau was 16-19 persons.  By filling the chateau, booking early for an extended period and sharing costs we were able to obtain chateau accommodation at a country motel price.  Needless to say, we had some wonderful times with our hosts.  See: Chateau de le Gatinaliere.
