HARDNESS TESTING

Rockwell® Hardness Testers

Wolpert Wilson® Instruments is the originator of the Rockwell Hardness Tester. Rockwell hardness testing methods are a fast and reliable approach to determine the hardness of metals, alloys, small precision parts, wires, and in some cases, plastics. The Rockwell hardness scales cover a range from the softest bearings to the hardest steels.

Traditional Models

The Rockwell® 574T Hardness Tester is a proven and reliable deadweight testing instrument. This system is capable of testing in all of the regular Rockwell hardness scales (60, 100, and 150 kgf major test forces), all superficial Rockwell hardness scales (15, 30, and 45 kgf), and can accommodate a wide variety of applications. The Rockwell 574T Hardness Tester includes a rugged industrial design, a brand new user-friendly LCD panel, along with a built-in USB port for rapid data transfer to Microsoft® Excel® or other applications. All Rockwell 574 Series Hardness Testers are equipped with a powerful auto-braking system on preload ensuring seamless operation as well as a high precision depth measurement system for accurate and repeatable testing. The Wilson Instruments 574 series Rockwell hardness testers offer quality, durability and an industry leading Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) making this instrument best in class.

Load Cell Controlled Models

The Rockwell® 2000 Series Hardness Testers achieve the highest level of depth measurement accuracy and resolution available. This instrument is equipped with a unique closed-loop electronic force measuring system and a highly accurate “in-line” depth measuring technology for fast, precise, and reliable testing. The Rockwell 2000 offers a very simplistic approach towards testing with a single button press to operate, as well as a flexible and user-friendly LCD control panel for method set up and configuration. This instrument is offered in a variety of sizes ranging from 6 - 14 in of vertical testing capacity to accommodate varying sample sizes and is available in 3 different variations of Rockwell Regular, Superficial, or Twin hardness scales. This 2000T Series Rockwell Hardness Tester is capable of testing in both Rockwell Regular and Superficial Rockwell scales with loads of 15, 30, 45, 60, 100, and 150 kg.

Knoop/Vickers Hardness Testers

Knoop/Vickers Hardness Testers are widely used for determining the hardness of small precision parts, thin materials or wires, coatings, and performing case depth determinations. Knoop/Vickers testing covers the spectrum of hardness testing that is also commonly referred to as microhardness or macrohardness testing.

Microhardness Testers & Macrohardness Testers

The 400 Series is a versatile, user-friendly hardness tester that is optimized for quality assurance, production, or metallurgical research. For microhardness applications, our model 402MVD covers the load range from 10 g up to 1 kgf as standard and 2 kgf as optional. Model 432SVD covers a great part of both the micro and the macro loadrange. Our Tukon 2100B uses a closed-loop load system, and by means of its optional dual load cell capability, the Tukon 2100B can achieve, on one tester, an unmatched load range of 10 gf – 50 kgf. The dual indenter system allows easy switching between Vickers and Knoop.

All Knoop/ Vickers systems can be upgraded with additional indenters, objectives and camera, and can be converted into a fully automatic system.

Tukon 2500 K/ V Automated Hardness Tester

The Tukon 2500 Knoop/ Vickers automated hardness testers offer unparalleled performance, accuracy and efficiency compared to any other micro/ macro hardness tester on the market today. This instrument is offered in a number of different configurations ranging from entry level packages for the casual user, to advanced fully-automatic automation systems for evaluating high volumes of samples. Together, an industry leading load range of 10 gf – 50 kgf and an innovative digital zooming capability for dramatically enhancing the magnification range of the optical path support a wide breadth of applications. All system control is handled through the Wilson Hardness Group’s Minuteman automation software, where test method setups, data collection, case hardness depth graphing, statistical calculations, data export and much more functionality is provided for rapid testing and analysis.

Brinell Hardness Testers

Brinell Hardness Testers are available to meet a variety of production and application requirements including floor, bench, and portable models. The 3000 BLD closed-loop Brinell Tester provides rugged, dependable testing utilizing accurate closed-loop load control. The floor model H configuration CLB3 Brinell is a specialized Wilson® Instruments/ Instron® electromechanical system designed for accurate and repeatable testing.

Universal Hardness Testers

Our Universal Hardness Testers are equipped with a closed-loop load system, which eliminates overshoot and combines a fully-automatic controlled test cycle with a wide load range. The built-in optics allow for easy Brinell and Vickers indent evalutation and a complete Rockwell cycle is initiated by one push of a button.

Portable Hardness Testers

Wilson® Hardness offers a variety of portable hardness testers that provide a convenient means for determining hardness readings in situations that do not lend themselves to bench testing. Typically classified by the test scales they perform, they are ideal for testing large parts such as pipes, dies, engine blocks, stacked sheets, or tubing on racks.

Accessories

Wilson® Hardness offers a comprehensive selection of hardness accessories including:

  • Test Blocks ( accedited to ISO/IEC 17025 by NVLAP)
