Our club sails from Brooklyn, north of Sydney,
Australia, on the beautiful waters of Broken Bay.
The HRYC fleet comprises around 30 yachts ranging
from 23 to over 40 feet. Our calendar of events (see the latest
issue of The Pennant which can be reached from the Home page) includes round-the-buoys racing,
cruising and social sailing activities. The club's history reaches back to 1992.
The club's home base is a restored naval
ammunitions barge floating off Parsley Bay, close to where most of
our yachts are moored.
This floating clubhouse
located at one end of the start line is used for both race control
and after-race social activities. Surrounded by water and the most
exquisite, unspoilt Australian bushland, the setting has helped
revive many a weary sailor as the sun goes down.
On average, races including Point Score races and
Trophy races are held about once every three weeks. For the more
serious sailors, there is also a 4 race series held between the RMYC
Pittwater and Gosford Sailing Club. Races normally lasting about 3
hours, with 2 of the interclub series races and one of our Trophy
races taking as long as 7 hours. Our courses are set around buoys laid in Cowan
Creek and Broken Bay, at the mouth of the Hawkesbury River. We have
a varied social program which includes cruising and invitation
events with other clubs. Our social events are normally on the first
Saturday each month. Each day on the water is usually followed by a
BBQ where sailors and family have a chance to renew friendships and
share the excitement of the day.
If you are interested in joining us, please email us or contact one of
the committee members, who can give you more
details, arrange an introductory sail, and assist with your application
for membership. Please keep in mind that sailing involves risks which you
should take into account when deciding to participate in club
activities. |
