Chinese Swordsmanship
Every second Saturday 10:00am - 11:00. Those who wish to stay for a sandwich after practice are welcome to do so. All are welcome, beginners to advanced. No prior experience necessary. Students will need to get their own approved wooden training sword/s, although there are some for borrowing until this can be arranged. There will be training in all aspects of Chinese swordsmanship as knowledge becomes available. Children are welcome, under their parent's care, and those with enough concentration and patience may join in the training.
New students can join at any time and will join in to learn whichever section of the sword form the group is working on at the time, basic cuts practice, drills, applications from the form, free sword play. At a later stage we will be learning miaodao, and dao and tengpai skills. There will also be target cutting practice in the future, for those who have their own sword and have attended sufficient training, including at least one swordsmanship seminar with our teacher Scott Rodell, and a cutting training session with him.
Students attending swordsmanship classes need protective gloves and eyewear, such as squash glasses. Children need a fencing mask.
