This Unit is an introduction to a unit on perimeters and areas. It will extend understanding of basic geometric shapes, gain an awareness of size and area of shapes, and learn about the number Pi.
Students will undertake a series of 6 lessons that will enable them to:
Discover meaning and value pf Pi;
Discover the circumference and area of circles;
Discover arcs and sectors of circles;
and apply their new knowledge to practical examples in the World.
The lessons within this web site will enable the student to
achieve these learning objectives
through examples, exercises, and homework.
Assessment will be based on completion of weekly activities
and homework.
Lesson 6 allows the student to apply their newfound knowledge on real examples.
